There are various CBD offerings on the market, so it’s worth your while to understand the differences between them: Full Spectrum CBD products that are created from the pure crude extracted directly from the hemp plant; the further breakdown of processing Broad Spectrum; and the Isolate, as it is stripped of all beneficial compounds except for the isolated CBD molecule.
To understand hemp extraction processing, let’s start at the beginning of the process.
Fountain of Health grows and harvests hemp plants at our exclusive USDA Certified farm. Once dry, the flowers and the leaves are stripped off of the plant and crushed up for extraction. This primary extraction retains EVERYTHING from the plant material – the cannabinoids, terpenes, and everything else. This is known as crude in the industry. What you do this crude is really what separates CBD oils.
Utilizing the crude at this pure starting point, it has the FULL SPECTRUM of all of the cannabinoids that were in the original plant. We dilute this crude with MCT oil, and a little flavoring in the flavored oils, and it is full spectrum oil. It still contains all of the cannabinoids that were in the plant, and all of the terpenes and flavonoids, too.
This grants what is known as the Entourage effect, where those various natural work synergistically for the benefit of your body, aiding absorption and enhancing the positive effects of the plant extracts.
But, this full spectrum oil does contain the small amount of THC that is in all hemp plants. Although our plants and products comply with the required THC limit of less than 0.3%, if you absolutely cannot fail a drug test, you cannot consume a full spectrum product as there IS a risk of the THC building up to levels that will register on most drug tests.
Thus, the next step in processing the crude further would be to remove the THC, but when you do this, the terpenes are removed in the same process. This extract is referred to as “Broad Spectrum” because there is a broader spectrum of cannabinoids present than in isolate products.
To make isolate, or the isolated molecule of the CBD cannabinoid, the crude is further processed with pressure and heat to break down the crude to its molecular parts. So all that is left is the CBD crystal.
If Full Spectrum is the dietary equivalent of garden-fresh whole foods on your plate, then Isolate is like a fast food diet and a multivitamin – with Broad Spectrum somewhere in between. Fountain of Health brings you only the best Full Spectrum products from farm to shelf, with purity, potency, and the lab results to prove it.
